Italian bruschetta is a simple appetizer. Fresh basil, garlic, extra-virgin olive oil, and chopped tomatoes top toasted bread. Delicious antipasto that pleases everyone!
Toast bread slices: Bake at 400 F (200 C). Brush olive oil on both bread slices (1 tablespoon or more, if needed) with a pastry brush. Slice bread and place on a large baking sheet.

Toast the bread for 7-12 minutes, turning halfway, on the sheet in the oven. All ovens are different. To make bread darker and crispier, toast it longer.
3
In a medium bowl, combine chopped tomatoes, garlic, salt, olive oil, and basil to make the tomato topping.
4
Check seasoning: Mix and season. Taste and add salt as needed.
5
Serve bruschetta: Place toasted bread slices on a plate. Spoon tomato mixture onto slices. Enjoy!
